USFS BASIC SKILLS/LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM

SUMMER 2010

JULY 7 to SEPTEMBER 1, 2010: 4:45-6:15

CHOOSE 7 or 9 WEEK PROGRAMS!

at the Albany County Hockey Facility

830 Albany Shaker Rd, Loudonville, NY

Look back in August for information on our Fall & Winter Programs which run from September to March & are held at the Albany Academy Field House

WHO CAN TAKE OUR SKATING LESSONS?

Anyone who has had previous skating lessons!

Preschooler, School age & Adult Skaters

Recreational skaters

Beginner Figure Skaters

WHAT KINDS OF SKATING LESSONS DO WE OFFER?

Details about what skating skills are taught are available from the US Figure Skating website.
Click on links below for individual registration forms:

SNOWPLOW SAM: For preschool age children (age 3-5)

30 minute group lesson only

Learn skating skills from Snowplow Sam levels 1-2 (see page 2 from above link)

BASIC SKILLS: Improve your skating skills - for school age children (5 & up)

30 minute group lesson followed by 30 minute practice time

Learn skating skills from Basic Skills levels 1-2 (see page 3 from above link)

ADULT: Improve skating skills – for older teenagers and adults

30 minute group lesson followed by 30 minute practice time with option to purchase an extra ½ hour practice time

Learn skating skills from Adult levels 1-2 (see page 5 from above link) – more advanced adult skaters should sign up for "The Finer Edge"

"THE FINER EDGE" for advanced Basic Skills skaters level 3-8, Adult level 3-4 skaters or ISI Beta to Freestyle levels

30 minute practice on ½ ice surface followed by 30 minute group beginner figure skating lessons followed by 30 minutes practice on full ice surface

Learn skating skills from Basic Skills levels 3-8 (see page 3 from above link)

Adults learn skating skills from Adult 3-4 (see page 5 from above link)

US Figure Skating (USFS) Basic Skills Registration – Annual Fee $10:

Separate "USFS Basic Skills registration form" is attached to program registration forms for your convenience

Annual fee $10

Effective July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011

Membership benefits include:

Official U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Membership & Card

Record Book with stickers & general information about ice skating (with initial registration)

Official Basic Skills logo & year patches

As a USFS Basic Skills member you can skate in any USFS Basic Skills Program

Participate as an Albany FSC Basic Skills member in USFS Sanctioned events including:

Ice Shows

Competitions

TRY PRIVATE or SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS!

Private lessons offer 1 on 1 attention & semi-private lessons offer more individualized attention which will:

Reinforce what you are learning in your group lessons

Enable you to improve at a faster rate

Help prepare you for participation in Ice Shows & Competitions!

Skaters must arrange private lessons themselves; all our coaches are available for private lessons.

HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR SKATING LESSONS?

Wear warm layered clothing that is easy to move in

Don’t forget your GLOVES!

helmets are recommended for everyone! (bicycle & hockey helmets acceptable)

May also want to wear elbow & knee pads

There are no make-up lessons

There are no refunds without a medical excuse
