Based in Albany, NY, the Albany Figure Skating Club includes skaters from all over the Capital Region. Our main rink is located at the Bethlehem Area YMCA, 900 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, but we also offer ice packages at the Albany County Hockey Training Facility, 830
Albany-Shaker Road, Loudonville (opposite the airport) and at the Albany Academy, 135 Academy Road, Albany. Our annual competition in October, is held at a fourth location, the Clifton Park Arena, Vischers Ferry Road, Clifton Park.

New Club members are always welcome! Download our 2009-2010 Membership Application. Current Club members should renew by June 30th.
Albany FSC is also the home of the Achilles Edge Synchronized Skating Teams, the 2009 Empire State Games Gold Medalists.

Tryouts were recently held and two Synchro Teams will be fielded for the 2009-10 season: an Intermediate level team and a Juvenile level team (either Pre-Juvenile or Open Juvenile). New coaches Stephanie Hunter and Wayne Hussey will be working with returning coach Liz Commerford. Practices will begin with choreography sessions on Saturdays in August, followed by regular practices on Thursdays and Sundays beginning in September.  An an exciting and challenging competition schedule is planned. There are still a few openings on both teams. Please contact either Dawn Hopsicker or Tara DiRisio as soon as possible for team requirements and details.

CLUB NOTES    CONGRATULATIONS to Olivia Serafini who won the Intermediate Ladies Final Free Skating event at the 2009 Colonial Open Competition in Boxborough, Massachusetts. Olivia placed third in the qualifying round but skated a clean program in the finals, landing two double axels (one in combination) and 5 other double jumps. This performance earned her a personal best score of 52.14 and a first place finish. CONGRATULATIONS to sisters Stephanie and Christina Lombardi who recently both passed their Gold Ice Dance Tests.  According to the USFS, less than one percent of all skaters ever pass the highest level tests. These skaters have now passed the highest level tests in two skating disciplines: Moves in the Field and Dance. In addition, Christina and Stephanie both skate on the Achilles Edge Intermediate Synchronized Team, as well as competing individually in Freestyle skating events. SENIOR TESTS PASSED - Christina Lombardi passed her Senior MIF test in March 2008; Ginny Mahoney passed her Adult Gold MIF in March 2008; and Olivia Serafini passed her Senior MIF in August 2008. CONGRATULATIONS to the Achilles Edge Intermediate Synchro Team who placed first in the Intermediate division at both the Empire State Games and at the Terry Conners Synchronized Skating Open in Stamford, Connecticut.
